Frequently Asked Questions Q: When was Vancouver Improv Anywhere founded? A: Vancouver Improv Anywhere (VIA) was founded in August 2009. Q: What is Vancouver Improv Anywhere? A: VIA is a non-profit group that organizes fun, free improv events and create “flashmob-esque” events throughout the lower mainland. Q: What is improvisation? A: Improvisation is the practice of acting, singing, talking and re-enacting, of making and creating, in the moment and in response to the stimulus of one’s immediate environment and inner feelings. Q: What is a “flashmob” A: A flashmob is a sudden mass gathering, unanticipated by participants who communicate electronically. Q: What was the first VIA event? A: Our first event was none other than a tribute to the “high five escalator” done by Improv Everywhere. Q: How do I participate? A: ViA posts every upcoming event in the “Upcoming Events” tab at the top of this page! Better yet, become a Fan on our Facebook Page. Q: Why was Vancouver Improv Anywhere created? A: VIA was created to bring an out of the ordinary experience to the regular everyday motion of life. We spread positive energy because too often we see people who don’t smile, talk or even look at each other. Its surprising how a simple high five can lighten the start of your day! Q: Where are our Events held? A: Our events are usually located at secret locations :) Q: How much does it cost to participate? A: All VIA events are free but we encourage participants to bring their own props. Q: Can you attend our special event and surprise our guests? A: Absolutely, we are happy to discuss the possibilities of performing an improv/flashmob at your special event. As a matter of fact, VIA has been hired to perform at weddings, held special events at the 2010 Winter Olympics and joined forces with World Vision Canada for an epic dance number!
